What’s up, bitches? Roy here with a little lunch time tip for you North Side fiends to sit on. I know it’s almost required to defend Chicago-style deep dish against the likes of New York thin, but lets be honest, it’s just not feasible most of the time. If you’re at work and you want to get down with a slice at lunch, you dont want to wait 35 minutes for a 3/4 pound, productivity-killing piece of Ditka. You need something more manageable, that doesn’t cause stage 4 itus.
You’re probably thinking, “But Roy, you can’t get an ACTUAL New York slice in Chicago, there’s magic in their water, it doesn’t taste the same!”
Baboon Balls. There are tons of delicious New York style all up and down this mf’er. But today, we’re going to focus on Jimmy’s Pizza Cafe in Lincoln Square.
All yall haters, peep this:
Now this place does it just like NY:
1. There are pies under glass when you walk in, just point and grunt.
2. They REHEAT THE FUCKING SLICE before serving. (I’m looking at you Pizzaco!)
3. The slices are both crunchy and chewy, not a fleshy sog fest. (I’m looking at you Santullo’s!)
We tried it by the pie and what we picked up was a work of art. It was the kind of pizza that makes the Ninja Turtles lose their shit.
With pizza of this calibur so close to Andersonville, it’s mind boggling that the sheets of turd that Ranalli’s is slanging are still being purchased at all. If this place was in Andersonville proper, Ranalli’s would be a deserving addition to the already worrysome number of abandoned store fronts in the neighborhood. (Somebody open a bbq place in Andersonville already.)
Anyway, Jimmy’s aint no joke, you must eat this.
